About Spiders
There are many species of spiders found in the Northwest, but despite popular belief there is only one spider that is harmful to humans. Many people believe that we have Brown Recluse spiders, when in reality we do not. Brown Recluse spiders are found in the Midwest region of the United States. The only spider found in Oregon that is harmful to humans is the Black Widow spider. It was believed that the Hobo spider (Eratigena agrestis) was another spider harmful to humans that was found locally. Recent studies have found that this is not the case and it has been since removed from the list of dangerous spiders. Spiders main diet mainly consists of other insects. Where they prefer to live varies from species to species. Some prefer to live in cool dark areas, while others you will see in heir web on the shrubbery around your house.
How to Prevent Spiders
The best way to prevent spiders is by getting on to our monthly treatment plan. What that is is once a month we will spray around the exterior of your house with a product that works well with preventing spiders. One way that you can help prevent spiders from entering your home is by making sure that you don't have any clutter around your house. Keep things away from the house that will allow spiders a place to hide. ALso keeping shrubbery at least a food away from your house will also help prevent spiders from entering your residence
